Last Wednesday afternoon we played Jason's athletes at Hall Place Bexley. Paul and Matt opened the batting but were soon out to a combination of good bowling and the park track. Colin on his first appearance this year looked rusty and also soon went. It was then left to Phil McB and myself, with my MuM, Dad, sister and nephews watching on, to steady the ship. We batted patiently making sure we didn't fall to Jason's dobbers, sorry vicious spin - Jason's 7 overs only went for 22 runs. I went for a creditable 34 and Phil retired briefly on 50. Chris took a nasty blow in the mouth - self inflicted and retired and Simon was run out by Raj. Phil returned as we only had 8 players and Raj attacked the bowling for 29no and Phil finished on 76no in a total of 182-5. |

Once again Jason's Mum provided a wonderful tea, not appreciated by Chris who could only take liquids at this stage. |

In reply the athletes were undone by some decent bowling and a rather dodgy track. Jason put up some good resistance until adjudged lbw off Chris for 24 and their innings slumped to 61all out. We retired to the Kings Head for a couple, joined later by Phil who bagged the two other pubs in the GBG in Bexley. Once again thanks to Jason for organising the fixture. Barry forgot to mention that the scorebook mysteriously went missing at the end of the match and he contacted me asking me to check with all my team to see who had it, he also asked all the Superstars. I chased round vigorously for several days ringing and texting them all. Barry sent a chasing email on Friday and so over the weekend I emptied all my kit bags out and even got the tent that we had used on the day out again. Then Barry contacted me on Monday to tell me he had it in his kit bag all along!!! |
