KINGS ROAD
Wednesday 26th June, 6pm start.
Abbey Recreation Ground, South Wimbledon.
t20 match, warm but cloudy evening.
AFTER LORD DODGERS' SHOW FOR SUPERSTARS
Still enjoying the glow of defeating Dodgers the day before Superstars took on Kings Rd. The weather was warm but cloudy and Bart lost the toss, meaning we were fielding.
Kings Rd had an excellent batting line up but Superstars kept going with Chrissie, Gary, Harish, Merv and Rob R at least keeping it respectable. Unfortunately Gary picked up an injury that was initially thought to be a strained liver (it was the day after his birthday) but later was diagnosed as a side strain. George took a smart stumping off Rob while Paul's excellent pick up and throw from the boundary via Rob’s relay to keeper George caused an excellent run out. Kings Rd ended up with an imposing 170 for 4.
Paul G and Diwakar opened up and unfortunately the KR bowling was as good as their batting. Even more unfortunately Diwakar injured his knee when completed a quick single, although I'm pleased to say he returned later (with Harish as a runner, hooray for a game with a runner!) Superstars battled with Diwakar, George and Rob R chipping in. Paul walked off on 20 not out, allowing the limping Gary (7), Harish (3) and Guy (3) to get knocks while Barry showed why he's the bookie's favourite for batsman of the year and average protection of the year with a 21 not out. Superstars fought to 89 for 6.
A sound beating but pride just about in place. And we beat Dodgers. Did I mention that?
