On a warm and sunny evening at Chiswick, a first this Summer, Olympic fever had caught up with Superstars
- Jason in his games makers outfit was off to cruise London in his chauffering role after the game Jez had cried off citing a sudden interest in the
handball - half the team seem to have been to the handball at the O Park and Paul was buried into his phone trying to pick out the ball in the Team GB
v Neths at hockey. But back to the cricket and it was a case of deja vu for some of us as 5 of the Legal team had played against us the previous
evening for Dodgers, which we won with 2 balls to spare in the dark by the way. I lost the toss - a case of what a to**er - and Legal put us in.
A solid start by Paul and Vijay saw us put on 41 for the first wicket before Paul inside edged onto his stumps. Vijay scored a 6 called by the
fielder but looked short of the boundary to us and retired on 25. Scott in stand and deliver mode clumped one straight over the long straight
boundary on the A pitch for a six before being bowled by the Sultan of swing for 20. Jim and I ran a number of 2s before Jim reached 25 and Raj T
played out the last over by largely playing and missing which meant we had made a reasonably challenging 120. |

Alok and Roy opened the bowling and kept the run rate below 5 an over in their 8 over
spell despite not taking a wicket. Next up were Jason and Mike T, runs flowed but so did wickets including a contender for catch of
the season from the scarecrow, before he buggers off to Somerset, as he dived full length at point and caught the ball one handed. However,
with 4 overs to go they required 27 to win but some tight bowling from Raj T and Scott saw us win by 4 runs despite a last ball wide from Scott
- our sixth win in a row. Special mention to Jim who patrolled the mid wicket boundary with gusto and turned a number of certain two's
into singles. The bar was shut but it's better in the White Hart on a warm eveing anyway. |
