At first appearance this diminutive and bespectacled Indian doesn't look like he should much trouble the scorers ( that's also what the officials thought of Ghandi!) But once given the new ball, this Roy of the Rovers with his swift skidding action often reaps plenty of bounty with his accurate fast medium bowling. Roy hails from Kerala, a state of India which has plenty in common with that other great cricketing state, Yorkshire. Both claim to be "God's own country" (truth is everyone knows God was a Yorkshireman who created Yorkshire first and then went to Asia where he sat down on a big hill to Ev'erest). [the website team take no responsibility for that joke].
Roy's Keralen cobra like venom with the ball is unfortunately not matched with the bat, with a Superstars career total run of 17 from 17 matches (or 9 innings). Nor is he much of a Tiger in the field. Roy is noted for his occasional lapses and less than clear calling when backing up! Frustratingly for the skipper Roy can often switch off between and even within overs (when he' s not bowling!)
A reliably late but consistently good bloke with a permanent smile on his face, Roys batting and fielding frustrations are often compensated when the Keralan cobra gets tossed the ball
As a relatively new player Roy is yet to reach the heights of the career stats (give him a year or two with that bowling though) although his nomination for the 2011 players' bowler of the year suggests a bright future - winning "worst umpire" suggests it won't be with the white coat though.
