GIGG'S MEDIA BLACKOUT AFTER LOSS
Despite being called Ad Hoc, the opposition were very keen to start at the pre-arranged time. This meant batting first as in his own words Bish was "semi-lost" on his way from the tube. Chris Mountain turned up on the off chance of an ad hoc game but was limited to umpiring duties. After a couple of early wickets, Vijay and Rob R put on a great partnership before Rob was caught by an excellent running catch in the deep by Zac. Unlike Theresa May, Vijay bowed out in style, scoring 19 of his last 4 balls and retiring on 28 not out! This included a beast of a straight 6 that almost went for 6 on the adjoining pitch and ended up somewhere near the zoo! It had been a day for umpiring decisions being overturned by players onfield and this continued well after the test match had finished. I had given Hanif run out but the bowler sportingly admitted he didn't have control of the ball when he clattered into the stumps. Superstars scoring slowed for a while after Vijay had left the crease but a very handy 15 from Umar and some more lusty blows from Matt S got us up to a competitive 112. Superstars put in a good effort in the field with Matt S taking a very sharp catch, a good catch in the deep by Vijay and an excellent running catch at deep fine leg by Hanif. Unusually, the only player to put down a catch was Rob Reeve but to be fair, most superstars wouldn’t have even got a hand to it.
The run chase always looked like it could go wither way. Matt S and Chrissie bowled well at the start. In the middle overs John Bishop kept us in it by taking 3-15 from 3 overs. John started off bowling into a strong wind but he had a change of end which suited him, it wasn’t a tactical masterstroke by Barry, we were bowling 10 from each end to save time. It had a been a lovely evening in Regent’s Park but it was getting gloomy by the time we finished. An ad hoc decision by Barry to bring Diwakar on to bowl paid off immediately as he took wickets with his first and second balls of the season, finishing with an impressive 2-7! This looked to have swung the game back in our favour however, Ad hoc managed to scrape over the line in the final over, 7 wickets down. 18 different bowlers were used in the game, 8 for Superstars and all 10 for Ad Hoc!

Gigg imposed a media blackout after the loss

Notes.
Notable drop: Rob Reeve's was probably only notable as he's usually so faultless.
Notable catches: Matt S took a very sharp catch, a good catch in the deep by Vijay and an excellent running catch at deep fine leg by Hanif.
Comedy Moment: JB being "semi lost".
Stat: None we're aware of.
