Once again Barry (who didn't even play in the end!)
lost the toss and LT Dinos chose to bat first. Alok (3-1-3-0) and JA-P (3-0-8-0) bowled an
excellent, tight opening spell without taking any wickets but the pressure did lead to the first
of many run outs by Matt, lurking as always in the covers. Mike Kamellard (3-0-18-1), Roy (3-1-13-1)
and Merv (3-0-16-2) all benefitted from an improved fielding performance as Adam (2), Alok and Rick
all took catches and there were three more run outs from Adam, Chris "Big Hill" Mountain and, if
you can believe it, Roy! Chris also picked up a wicket (1-0-1-1) but Dinos' number 5, returning
after retiring earlier, managed to see them through the 20 overs. |

Adam, unaccustomed to batting at number 1, hit 11
from the first over, including a straight six which sent the bowlers to the bar expecting things
to be wrapped up early. Dinos had other ideas, however, and tightened things up after that.
Adam (15) and Chris (0) both fell in the 5th over. Rick picked the wrong fielder to take a quick
single to and was run out for 10 and Matt, in typical swashbuckling style, was also out for 10,
bowled. Things started to look a little nervy after Alok was dismissed for 7 looking for a second
big 6 and Merv followed for a golden duck but Will (25 retired) had anchored the innings throughout
and JA-P saw the side home with a meaty boundary to finish on 11 not out. |
