Barry won the toss. Once the squad had recovered from the shock they wandered into the field.
Sandeep and Ian opened the bowling with skill and pace taking some important looking wickets (2 each) early on. After 8 overs LT only had
around 25 or so, for the loss of 4 wickets. Debutant Johnny Eveson took up the bowling action and soon got to realise he can't rely on
anyone helping him out with fielding etc but progressed nicely through 4 economic overs of swing - including one run out. At the other end
Henry Demaria was on and took a wicket (caught by Simon "surely there's an obvious nickname in there" Dancer), although this was a double
edged sword as it bought in the hard hitting Swarchz who hit a quickfire 28 retired, with James Nichols taking the brunt on his first bowling
stint for the club. It was left to regulars "Big Hill" (one of the back back twins) and Vijay to bowl the last four overs of the innings. LT Dinos
had got 103 in their 20 overs - a good effort after |

Gaught, trying to avoid a king pair, and Matt Conway led the way for Superstars and surprisingly did it
quite well. Matt was in good form and brought up a 13 ball 25 with a six straight down the ground. Meanwhile Gaught was finding the going tough against
a skillful opening bowler, but bouyed on by Matt's words of encouragement ("rather you than me") he gritted through until he was run out for 19 trying
to sneak a quick run Barry style. Chris M was caught on the boundary for 4 which bought in Simon Dancer and James Nichols together. Both showed
urgency and bought the side nearer to the total but the rate was creeping up when both were dismissed (for 17 and 6 respectively). Barry joined Vijay at the crease
with 3 overs left and 19 required. However the first 5 balls were dots and nerves were etched across the faces of the Superstars. 19 off 13 balls. Vijay
then launched a 3. 16 off 2 overs whith 2 good bowlers to bowl. After 4 balls Superstars had accumulated 6 runs and 10 were required. Three balls later the match won
with Vijay (who ended on 19no) hitting 2 trademark big hits for four and Barry (5no) equally hit a trademark edge for 4. |

A close and enjoyable game played, as you would expect, in a good spirit. Most the squad stayed for a beer and got to see
Barry's "emergency scoring pencil" and some even got to her stories of his exploits on a 18-30 holiday. Or was that a 1830 holiday? |
