With the Ken Block Trophy safely retained Superstars went in to the
final match of the 2012 Series looking for a win that would dispel Dodgers' claims that we had been "lucky" in the
first two matches. Things started well with Barry winning the toss and choosing to field (not sure this really
happened but it's what Barry told me). |

There was a bit of pace and bounce in the Chiswick wicket which Sandeep
found to his liking. His 4-over spell only went for 6 runs, forcing the Dodgers openers to attack Harish at the other
end. Harish was unlucky to have to wait until the last ball of his spell for one of many aerial shots to find a fielder,
with Adam "running" around from mid-on to catch Mike Dollin. The strong fielding continued with Matt C and Scott
both taking good catches off Jez's bowling and the run-rate rarely getting above 4 an over. With no catches being
offered towards the end of the innings, the fielders continued to exert pressure with 3 run outs, including one from
Sandeep spectacularly throwing down a single stump from 5 yards). Dodgers managed to up the rate a bit in the last
few overs but Scott picked up a 7th wicket and Sandeep tactically dropped a sitter off the last ball to leave them
on Nelson, 111, from 20 overs. |

Vijay and Adam carried on where they left off against Adhoc last week,
with good running between the wickets contributing most of the runs. They'd put on 60-odd in 11 overs before Adam got
a bit over excited and nicked one behind for 42. With the target nearly in sight the scoring rate slowed, particularly
after Vijay was run out for 34, slipping after being sent back for a single. After Matt had gone for 11, and Jamie
without scoring, Scott and Raj only needed about 15 from 5 overs to seal the Series win. However, the light was fading
fast and both played and missed regularly, looking to finish it with big shots. The only person who seemed untroubled
by the light was the fielder at mid-on who Raj picked out, bringing Chris M to the crease to partner Scott. 6 needed
off the last 2 overs became 4 off the last and then 4 off 4 balls. The scores were tied with a single and two wides
before Scott finally got one to the boundary (I think, noone could really see where it went!) to round off a "comfortable"
chase, and secure a 2-0 Series victory, with two balls remaining. |

It says something about this great series that a win with two balls to
spare was probably the most one-side clash of the series. Although Superstars rightly celebrated the 2.5 - 0.5 scoreline
was harsh on our Dodger friends. |
