Superstars arrived at LSE's Berrylands ground on a warm, sunny day in August looking
forward to a good game and nice tea. In a shock move Barry won the toss and elected to bat on the wicket well known as a
batting heaven. |

Paul Gaught and Matt Conway opened the batting and after Paul edged the first ball
through the vacant slip area both batted well. Superstars batted at a good rate throughout with Owen Draper, a guest from Energy
Exiles, joining Paul in a big stand for the 4th wicket (of around 130). Simon Gundry joined Paul who delighted the crowd by
bringing his 100 up with a six over the long on fielder. With the heat taking effect the last few overs were a struggle by Paul ended
on 115 not out and Superstars made 248 in their 40 overs. |

Andy Wingfield (another Exiles guest) opened the bowling with Simon and although both
bowled well and kept the runs down LSE were still 0 wickets down. It seemed an unlikely target at roughly 75-0 in the 19th over but
there were nerves that the LSE could well dampen celebrations. Luckily it was clearly Paul's day as he held a catch on the mid wicket
boundary that started a mini-collapse. In the end Superstars were comfortable victors. |

Paul's 115 not out was at the time (and still is at the time of writing)
the 3rd highest individual score in the club's history and the highest by a regular player. |
