In an historic first meeting between these great sides
Archives predictably won the toss and chose to bat first. They may have regretted this though as the
first three batsmen all fell for ducks in an excellent opening spell by Roy (2-0-4-1) and Vijay
(2-0-4-2). It was now we realised we were using a youth sized match ball, but the game continued.
Mike Duggan (3-0-24-2) was also in the wickets (picking up two without a stumping!)
and Jez (3-0-10-1) also got one. Some poor fielding, and 5 dropped catches, helped Archives rally
against the formidable spin attack of Gaught, Meyler and Nicholls but they were eventually finished
off thanks to a run out (anyone want to claim the run out?) and Rick's off-spinners (2-0-13-3). |

Bungle and Darth Meyler came out with the usual plan
to see who it goes for the first few overs and put on 50 for the first wicket before Paul retired
and Steve was bowled for 21. Merv followed shortly after for 4 but James N (12 not out) and Vijay
(21 not out) saw Superstars comfortably home in the 17th over. The win for Superstars moves them
in positive win-loss territory for the first time in the season - definitely worthy of a place
in the Archives given the start to the season. |
