STEVE MEYLER STANDS DOWN
On Friday January 11th 2013 Steve Meyler announced he was stepping down from the role Superstars Chairman. In a short statement to players, fans and the press Steve said-
Chairman Steve Meyler "I unfortunately cannot make the meeting [The Superstars AGM] tonight but it seems a good time to relinquish my role as Chairman. I know this is short notice but if anyone wishes to apply to become Chairman of Superstars, please let Jason know. You can also turn up tonight and let Paul [Gaught] and Jason [Marchant] know of your interest. Paul will Chair the meeting tonight in my absence. I hope to continue to support the club and happy to stay on the committee. I will also support the new elected Chairman as best as I can. The support of the committee members has helped make the role of Chairman of this club fairly easy and enjoyable. I thank everyone at the club for their support over the years. Many thanks"
A typically selfless message from a man who has led the club with distinction in a time of great improvement and development. An example of that being this website. Inevitably the messages of goodwill were quick to fly in, with some of the first being-
New Chairman Chris Mountain "It is with a heavy heart that, on behalf of the committee, I acknowledge your relinquishment (?) of the Chairpersonship of the OSD Superstars Cricket Club. Thank you for being a fine Chairman - our dignified leader, and guardian of the spirit of the game. You are a rock, on which the foundations of the club have been built. I know that you will continue to be an active club member, and I look forward ( in the time-honoured fashion) to allocating you loads of new responsibilities, in your absence, at the AGM tonight!". (Chris Mountain)
Future Chairman Ian Moxon "Hear hear. My heart is heavy. More time to focus on that all time run accumulator record. And what an awards night presentation speech that was to go out with... !!" (Ian Moxon)
The celebrate Steve's time in charge here are two of his great highlights, the 2012 Awards Night Presentation and the 2012 Tour "memories".
