DESTINY WAS NOT WRITTEN IN THE SUPER "STARS" |

A sunny evening in early June saw Vijay take on his debut captaincy
for Superstars, true to form we lost the toss against the formidable Commons Old Boys, from the start it was an
uphill struggle with not only the grounds man being late to unlock the changing rooms but also fielding with
only 10 men. |

The bowling started off with Alok returning to the crease in
fine form taking 3 important wickets and denying the batsmen runs with figures of (4 over, 1 maiden (wicket),
8 runs, 3 wickets) opening alongside was Harish with metronomic bowling; figures (2 overs, 0 maidens, 14 runs,
1 wicket) backing up their fine bowling was "The Stallion" Aranha with a great spell, taking a vital wicket
(3 overs, 0 maidens, 11 runs, 1 wicket). |

The fielding and bowling was exceptional with a fine piece of
fielding from guest player Khalid which earned him a run out to take the 6th wicket. Solid bowling performances
from Spry, Duggan, Plahe, Anand and R.Smith helped contain the C.O.B batsman to only 108 from their 20 overs. |

Anderson and R.Smith were sent out to start the run chase,
Anderson playing a steady innings scoring 13 runs, R.Smith stumped (although he confirmed it was a catch
off a fine edge) this saw guest Khalid put on a quick fine 5 runs but unfortunately clean bowled as he was
building up momentum. Harish scored a quick 6 runs but was unfortunately stumped, Anand struck a solid
boundary off this first ball and geared up for an explosive innings when a clear no ball was skied up
in the air off the bat and caught… the umpires did not call the no ball and Anand had to walk. Plahe
walked to the crease, didn’t face a ball and got ran out. Singh provided the glimmer of resurgence with
the bat scoring a solid 17 runs before an unfortunate LBW. Aranha scored a solid 12 runs with Duggan
scoring 2. |

Superstars lost by 19 Runs.....a great bowling and fielding
effort from the 10 man team but lacklustre & controversial batting performance saw COB take the victory. |
