Noting that we seemed a batsman light, assuming that batsman was someone like Joe Root, the skipper put DEFRA into bat. A typically tight Alok spell 4-1-8-1 could not make up for the runs being scored at the other end. The only wickets were another direct hit from Alok and one from the skip with his gloves on. Vijay took the only other wicket although he doesn't remember it as he bumped his head trying to take a catch on the boundary as DEFRA made 135-4. |

In reply Paul opened up with a steady 17 as the skip and Stephen Smith went out to sharp catches, Gary and Mark Anderson could also only make single figures. Vijay then upped the run rate and lost the ball with a huge six before retiring, Noman swung lustily for 17no but Alok, Dan, Mike K were all out for single figures. However Roy was looking confident at the end with 5no, a promotion to no 10 beckons. We finished on 106-8. |
