Amazingly Barry won the toss and in humid conditions elected to bat. Will opened and Paul G opened up well, with Paul regularly hitting the fielders but
Will in fine form. Bizarrely for the first 60 runs or so Paul only scored in odd numbers while Will only scored in even ones. In the 20th over Paul played a loose shot and was caught for 29, with
122 on the board. Speni joined Will and after 11 runs was caught reverse sweeping. Will was joined by debutant Richard Nash (who plays for Dartford Harriers). Will had progressed serenely and after
a beautiful on drive took him to 99 a nudge and run bought up his second century in 5 weeks. A historic achievement and Will sportingly retired despite the highest ever Superstars score being
in touching distance - he felt others should be given a bat. Ric Smith joined Richard but unfortunately picked out an excellent high catch at mid on (0) while Richard was bowled for 12. A great
platform was in danger of being spoilt slightly but Vijay and Alok stroked, nudged and brutally slogged their way to 38no and 21no respectively scoring 53 in the final 5 overs. Superstars
had made a punishing 229-4 in 35 overs. It felt a good total. |

However we knew NBW have some excellent batsmen and with a slightly weak bowling line up were ready for another thriller. An excellent opening
bowling stint by Raj Trivedi and Alok probably put Superstars in an even stronger position - Raj taking 2 excellent wickets including sharp catch by (you've guessed it) Will at short mid
wicket. Vijay and Rich Smith took up the attack chipped away with Vijay taking an excellent wicket and Rich two - including an excellent catch by Nash. A run out (inevitably by Will) meant
we were were going through the motions. NBW showed a lot a desire, pride and skill to bat on. Darth Meyler, Speno and Paul G were all used in the bowling attack but Richard Abigail picked
up two wickets (including another catch for Will!). In the end Weasels reached 136-8 in their 35 overs. |

Probably a perfect Superstars performance. Clearly Will's innings was magnificent but Vijay/Alok's late innings fireworks seemed important at the time
then the bowlers did more than what was required - with Raj's early wickets key. Good to see a large turnout for drinks too. |
