Chairman's Report |
This is my second annual report as Chairman. I would like to thank the committee for all their continued help over the season. In particular,
Ken once again produced an excellent fixture list and provided the stats for the end of season event. Paul worked exceptionally hard on organising availability for matches, purchasing new
caps for the season and arranging an excellent venue for the awards ceremony. Thank you to Mike also for organising the AGM and keeping everyone informed on club matters throughout the year. |

Last season, with Chris' help, we managed to arrange a match for our tour in Rickmansworth. Although it was the only match played it turned out
to be a very tight game with Superstars winning the match with the last ball of the innings with all 3 results possible. For the forthcoming tour to the Cotswolds would urge anyone within
the club to assist Paul in arranging further matches and accommodation. |
Over the season we had some very notable successes- |
Excellent performance at sports' day not just from "Superstars 6" who won the event but also "Superstars too" in reaching the semis only to lose
to SS6. Congratulations to both Barry and Jason in captaining their respective sides and everyone involved. |
Further congratulations to players in winning the 4DAs (Department) tournament. |
For our one and only match against Dodgers, the pressure was on with Dodgers fielding a strong line up and captain Barry away on other duties.
Paul achieved what Barry and most stand-in Captains fail to do, he won the toss. Some excellent bowling throughout the team reduced Dodgers to a score that was getable and both
Paul and Will created the foundations for a good win. |
Success in this club is more than just results though and I am pleased to see new players joining the club and being able to feel
they are most welcome. I am extremely grateful to all Superstars players for their encouragement and support to new players. |

It was a very enjoyable evening at the end of season social. Many congratulations to the winners of the major trophies: Batman of
the year, Will Walker. Bowler of the year, Sandeep Kumar. Player of the year, Chris Mountain. |
More noted for his faster delivery, Simon had to wait 9 month for his last one to arrive. Many congratulations to Simon and Alex on the birth of their daughter, Tilly. |

It was awful to hear the news regarding Ken illness over the last month. I visited Ken personally and conveyed our warmest wishes from all at
the club and his colleagues around the Department. We all wish him a speedy recovery. |

It has been an honour to be your Chairman over the last year and I look forward to the new season. |

Treasurer's Report |
The accounts had been audited. Pitch fees had been lower than anticipated as the Secretary had negotiated a reduced rate due to the
loss of three home matches to bad weather. Obviously the club is unable to forecast such an eventuality in the future, so the bid for the coming year anticipates having to pay the full rate.
The bid for 2008 was approved by members unchanged. |

Election of Officers |
No nominations had been received. However, Ken Block had informed the AGM in writing that he was no longer able to continue organising fixtures
due to his unfortunate illness. Paul Gaught therefore kindly offered to take over as Fixture Secretary. He was formally nominated by Mike Taylor and seconded by Barry Gigg. His appointment
was agreed unanimously. It was also considered appropriate to nominate a further member of the committee. Steve Evison was proposed by Simon Gundry and seconded by Steve Meyler.
The appointment was agreed unanimously. Other committee members were re-elected unopposed. Elected officers are as follows- |
| Chairman | Steve Meyler | |
| Secretary | Mike Taylor | |
| Treasurer | Barry Gigg | |
| Fixture Secretary | Paul Gaught | |

Arrangements for 2009 Season |
Chris Mountain kindly agreed to take on the role of canvassing players for weekly fixtures for the first part of the season. The committee wished to remind players that they
should notify Chris of their availability as soon as possible after they are e-mailed. It would also be helpful if players could respond even if they are not available. This is useful
as, in the event that we are short of players, the organiser does not have to e-mail people who have not initially responded to find out if they have any intention of playing. Players may wish
to make a particular effort to attend afternoon fixtures where having a full XI is particularly beneficial. |
The annual poster promotion in tea points would be arranged in an attempt to recruit new players. Nets had been arranged at the Oval
for pre-season practice, starting on 3 March. It was agreed that club subscriptions would remain the same for the coming year. |
Paul Gaught was in the process of arranging fixtures for a tour to the Cotswolds. He had already found teams for Friday and Sunday -
both of which play on traditional village grounds. The tour is a long-standing club tradition and players are encouraged to come along to what has always proved a very enjoyable weekend.
Further details of the tour would be sent to players in due course. |

Any Other Business |
The club would once again aim to put forward teams for the SPARTA and 4DAs sports days and would aim to support SPARTA at other events where possible.
New members would also be encouraged to join SPARTA if they worked for DCLG or DfT. |
The club wished to record its sincere thanks to Ken Block for all the hard work he has put into the club since its inception, both on and off the
pitch. His contribution has been second to none and has gone a long way to keeping the club together. He is wished a speedy recovery and we hope to see him playing again soon. |
