SUPERSTARS BACK TO LOSING WAYS |
|
|
|
Superstars, after a run of two rained off games, returned to losing ways
with a loss by 34 runs to Kings Road. |
|
|
|
Paul won the toss and elected to field first. At short notice we’d been
told we were playing on an artificial wicket and both Konrad and Merv got pace and bounce opening the
bowling. Konrad took a wicket, caught by early Fielder of the Year nominee Gaught-Allen while JB took
two wickets, both steepling catches taken by early “most likely to a skier" nominee and debutant Neepam Bhatt.
Whilst KR never got away from Superstars their quality did show despite great efforts from the bowling attack
of Konrad, Merv, JB, Neepam, Joey and Nikhil. Even the fielding was solid with good catches and a honourable
mention for Harish for volunteering to go behind the stumps. 142 for Kings Rd meant we had a chance. |

But KR are, as we know, strong with the ball and Matthew was dismissed early and Paul and
new signing Matt B had to see off some good opening bowling. It was encouraging to see Matt Brown, Joey and Neepam all score
well in debuts or early appearences. 108 was a very creditable effort, if not quite the big shock we saw over the pond
during the game when the USA beat Pakistan in a super over. |

It was a good preformance from the Sups, despite the 34 run loss, we'll play worse and win.
And it was a beautiful evening for cricket with good people and a functioning bar. |
