On a parched Chiswick ground Superstars amazed
the world when Barry won the toss. Less surprising, but still unexpected, was a batting
display that appeared to be competent, perhaps even good. Hewlett and Conway set off at a good
pace and Gigg and Reeve backed it up. There was a furry of wickets as the Sups looked to
maximise the last few overs (which is what good teams do). 143 seemed a good total.
But perhaps 143 wasn't a good total as Marauders got
there with 23 balls and 6 wickets to spare. Mike Duggan took two good wickets
but our heroes were never really in it.
But hey, better to at least felt as if we were competent
even if may be we weren't.
