Chairman's Report |
Chairman, Matthew
Conway, gave a stirring speech thanking all the club officials
for all their hard work during the last season, all the players
on their commitment and courage in facing hostile bowling
(as his latest scar proved), the fixture secretary for providing
such a varied line up of opponents and Barry for all his hard work
in doing so many jobs for the club such as arranging the nets
and looking after the club finances |
He encouraged the club to continue
developing and hopefully winning more games in 2020. He said that last season
included the first overseas tour (Isle of Wight) which had been a huge success,
he thanked all those that made the tour such a triumph. He hoped that the 2020
tour to Pembrokeshire would be as equally successful. |
He said that the club was in good
shape to face the new decade with a good recruitment campaign underway bringing
in new players, which he hoped would help the club to stay vibrant for many years to come. |

Treasurer's Report |
The accounts had been audited. The Treasurer went
through the details of income and expenditure and the forthcoming SPARTA bid. All players were
reminded that if they were in DfT or DCLG then they should join Sparta at a cost of £2 a
month. The price for nets had not increased this year and the cost of hiring pitches at South
Wimbledon was yet to be confirmed but it was assumed that the price was to remain the same.
Cricket balls was still a major kit expenditure. The bid that would be presented to SPARTA at
their upcoming AGM. There was likely to be more kit expenditure this year as the club needed
a club helmet (as the number of head injuries was increasing and the safety of the players was
paramount), also a new set of wicketkeeper's gloves was required. Barry would add these into
the expected expenditure. The treasurer said that each season the club/he was always out of
pocket as pitches and nets had to be paid in advance, at the moment this was not a problem
but the club needed to be aware of this. The accounts and bid were agreed. |
The treasurer had also
been informed that all treasurers accounts at the Nationwide Building
Society were likely to be closed in 2020. He said that if this was
the case he would be given 90 days' notice to move the clubs
account to another bank. The AGM agreed that he should use his
discretion to move the clubs account to a relevant bank account.
It was suggested that he investigated opening a Santander small
clubs account or maybe a Monzo account.

Arrangements for 2020 Season |
There were already 11 confirmed fixtures for 2020.
Vijay was planning a similar amount of fixtures as last year. It was hoped that as many Superstars'
players could attend a pre-tour game on 3 May at Shoreham Cricket Club. Once again orange balls
were a must for the early season fixtures. |
This year's tour would take place over the second
May Bank holiday weekend in Pembrokeshire. There were problems finding a Saturday game so it
was suggested that Steve Meyler be contacted to see if he knew of any Welsh sides that could be
available. It was hoped that a charity sixes tournament could once again be arranged in
regents' park. Dan had stepped down as the organiser but Rob was hoping to take over. |
Fixtures were being added to the Superstars
website on a regular basis so that all players could keep abreast of developments.
